Community guidelines
The rules for messages, listings and hand-offs, and what breaking them costs.
On this page
Jelly works because people lend strangers their good clothes. That only holds if everyone behaves well. These apply to listings, messages, reviews, profiles, hand-offs and anything else you do in connection with a Jelly transaction, and they sit alongside the Terms of Service.
Respect
- No harassment, threats or intimidation, and no continuing to contact someone who has asked you to stop.
- No slurs or hateful language.
- No doxxing: do not publish anyone's personal information and do not try to get it out of them.
- No unsolicited sexual content or advances, and no commentary on other people's bodies.
- No pile-ons: do not organise or join a group action against one member, on Jelly or off it, including coordinated reports, reviews or messages.
- If someone blocks you, that is the end of it. Do not make another account to reach them.
Jelly's team
The people answering are people. Abuse can close an account on the first offence.
- Do not name, target or post about an individual member of the team, or a courier, here or anywhere else.
- The team can end a conversation that has become abusive, and they do not have to ask first. Your order or your claim stays open and still gets an answer.
No discrimination
You can decline any offer for any ordinary reason. You do not owe anyone an explanation, and you never have to transact with someone who makes you uncomfortable.
What you may not do is decline, cancel, charge differently or treat anyone differently because of race, colour, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic.
That includes language in a listing signalling who you will lend to, asking a renter to send a photo of herself before you accept, and applying stricter conditions to one member than you would to another in the same situation.
Jelly reviews these reports itself. You are not asked to work it out with the other person.
No spam
No advertising anything unrelated to renting or selling your own clothes. No fundraising, donation requests or giveaways. No listings made to collect money rather than to lend or sell a piece. No bots and no scripted accounts.
Keep it on Jelly
Arrange and pay for every rental and sale on Jelly. Jelly does not mediate or collect on an off-platform arrangement, and the support desk cannot work one.
That includes paying part of it somewhere else. Splitting a booking between Jelly and a transfer app, or handing over cash on the side, takes the whole rental outside what Jelly can see, and a rental Jelly cannot see is one it cannot mediate, refund or collect on for either of you. See Messages and getting help.
Other people's work
A shop's, a model's or a press photo of a piece you list is fine beside your own (see What you can list), and it comes down if whoever holds the rights to it complains. Do not use a brand's name, logo or campaign imagery to suggest that brand is behind your closet. Naming the brand that made a piece you own is not a problem; passing yourself off as it is, and neither is claiming to be an authorised retailer or stockist when you are not.
### If you hold the rights and something here uses them
Write to info@onjelly.com with what it is, where it is on Jelly, what right you hold, and enough to identify the exact listing, Jelly board, post or message. A notice that says a whole brand is being infringed, without naming the individual listings, cannot be acted on.
In short: the content comes down while it is looked at, the person who posted it is told why and given a copy of the notice, and they can answer it. Answering is a real legal step and not an appeal form. Repeat infringement moves an account along the ladder below, and a strike comes off again if the content is restored or the notice is withdrawn. Sending a notice you know to be false has consequences of its own.
The full process (what a notice must contain, what a counter-notice commits you to, and the strike ladder) is Intellectual property.
How this is enforced
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before: the content or listing is removed · a warning · listing privileges restricted · the account suspended · the account closed permanently. See What you can list.
Serious conduct (abuse of the team, fraud, or listing counterfeits at volume) closes an account immediately.
Reporting
Report anything here to info@onjelly.com, or from the report action on the piece, the closet or the message. Include the handle, what happened, and screenshots where you have them.
Reports are confidential. Filing one you know to be false, or using reporting to interfere with someone else's closet, is itself a violation.
