Credits

Jelly credits are account credit, and at checkout you choose when to use them. You can pay by card or with your credit. With credit, your available balance comes off the total, itemised, and your card covers whatever it doesn't. Nothing is applied until you choose it. On an offer or an extension, you choose when you send it, since the charge lands later, when the lender says yes, and on an offer the credit you chose is set aside for it until she answers, so it can't be spent twice.

  • They do not expire. Jelly applies no expiry.
  • They are not cash. Credits are not withdrawn to a bank and are not redeemable for money. If you lend too, your balance says how much of it is credits: only your earnings can go to your bank, and when you pay with your balance, your credits are used first.
  • If a booking you paid partly in credits is refunded, the refund is split between your credits and your card in proportion to what each paid: the credits' share lands straight away, the card's takes the bank's time.
  • Credits you chose for a payment that is still going through are set aside for it. Until your card step for that booking or return goes through, they are not available for anything else. If it does not go through, or you cancel, they are back straight away, and never later than about half an hour after you started.
  • Money you owe Jelly is the one place you do not choose. A late fee, a claim or a balance takes your credits before your card, apart from credits set aside for a payment you have just started. See Payments, cards and charges.

Where they come from:

  • a fit refund, where the lender's listing offered one (see Fit refunds);
  • the $20 a lender owes you if she cancels a booking outside the two-hour grace (see Cancelling);
  • referrals, below;
  • goodwill, where Jelly has decided something went wrong on our side.

Your balance shows what is in it, what is pending and what is held.

Referrals

When a friend signs up on your code and completes her first rental, you get $10 in credits, up to 10 friends. A rental that ends in a fit refund is not a completed one, so the $10 waits for the next.

The invite screen fills a bead for each friend who has rented, one of ten, and shows what you have earned and who joined. A friend shows as joined, and fills no bead, until that first rental completes. You see their first name, never an email.

Promo codes

A promo code is a lender's offer on her own closet, funded by her, and you type it at checkout.

  • A code can be used once per person.
  • It applies either to the piece or to the delivery.
  • Codes do not stack: one promotion applies to each line.
  • If a code does not apply, the price screen says why rather than silently ignoring it.

Her side of it is Discounts and promo codes.
