Renting on Jelly

Buying a piece

Some listings sell as well as rent. One delivery leg, and 12 hours to check it.

On this page

Where a lender has put a sale price on a listing, you can buy the piece outright. It is instant, at the listed price, with no approval round-trip. If she takes offers you can send a Buy offer instead: always a total, and only where a sale price is listed. See Making an offer.

What you pay

One delivery leg, because the piece is not coming back: a courier from $13.49, quoted exactly at checkout once Jelly knows where it is going, or shipping at the carrier's price where the piece ships. Or a free handoff where she offers one. Everything is itemised before your card is charged. See Payments, cards and charges.

Sales tax. A rental carries none. On a purchase, where sales tax applies it is its own line on the total, on the piece and on the delivery leg. You see it before your card is charged, and it is never folded into the price or the delivery fee.

What you agree to at checkout

Not the rental sentence. A purchase has its own, from section 16 of the Terms: "I agree to the purchase terms in section 16 of the Terms: the piece is mine once it's delivered, fit refunds don't apply and there are no change-of-mind returns, and anything not as described is reported within 12 hours of delivery." It is the same sentence on a Buy offer.

Check it within 12 hours of delivery

That is the window for reporting a piece that is not as described, with photos. Film it when it lands, exactly as you would a rental: the arrival capture is the record of what turned up. See Not as described.

A fit policy is a rental term. The percentage and the window a lender sets on a listing apply to renting it, not to buying it. On a sale what you have is the description, the photographs and those 12 hours.

What you are buying

A worn piece from someone's closet, described by its owner. Read the description and the condition notes, and look at her photographs properly. That is the whole disclosure.

Cancelling

Full refund until the courier has it (or, shipped, until the carrier scans it) and none after. See Cancelling.

Once the window has closed the sale is done, and the seller is paid. Her side of it is Selling a piece.
