Renting on Jelly
Renting a piece
Pick your dates and Jelly it. No offer to send, no waiting to be chosen.
Pick your dates, Jelly it, and the piece is booked. There is no offer to send and no lender to wait on: the price on the listing is the price, and the dates are yours the moment the card goes through.
Three things to check first
- The dates. A listing is priced for a period ("$280 · up to 7 days"), and some lenders also set a shortest and a longest stay. If your dates fall outside them Jelly says so before you get to the till. You can book up to 90 days ahead, so a dress for something in three months is a booking you can make now. See Rental periods and dates.
- Her fit policy. It is on the listing page, above the button, and most pieces have none. See Fit refunds.
- Your ID check, once. Everyone on Jelly verifies her ID once before she books: a rental or a purchase, whatever the piece is worth. If you did it when you signed up, there is nothing to do; if not, checkout asks first, and it takes about two minutes. See Your account.
What you pay
- The rental: one price for the whole stay, up to the number of days she set.
- Delivery: a courier from $13.49 each way, quoted exactly at checkout once Jelly knows where it is going, or shipping at the carrier's price for the speed you pick. The way there and the way back are two legs, priced and itemised separately; on a courier you can pick the return method now or later. A handoff costs nothing. See Delivery methods.
- Nothing else. Every line is itemised before your card is charged. If you have Jelly credit, checkout asks whether to use it, and nothing comes off until you say so. See Paying for a rental.
Longer than her period? Those extra days are hers to say yes to. Jelly quotes the total and sends it to her as a Longer offer, and her acceptance books it. See Making an offer.
While you have it
Film it when it lands. A short video at each handover, shot in the app on the camera rather than your camera roll. Both of you see both records, and it is the only thing that reliably settles a question about a mark that was already there. See Receiving your piece.
Wear it. Do not clean it, alter it or lend it on. See Looking after a piece.
Sending it back
Book the return before your end date and film the piece again before it goes. Late fees start the day after the end date where the lender has them switched on. See Returning a piece and Late returns.
