How Jelly works

Borrow a piece from someone's closet, wear it, send it back.

Jelly is a closet you share. Someone else owns the piece you have been looking at, and for a few days it is yours.

Find it. Search, browse the closets that can reach you, or ask Mona what to wear to the thing you are dressing for. Every piece you see is real inventory in someone's closet. See Finding a piece and Mona.

Jelly it. Pick your dates and book. There is no waiting for a lender to approve you: the price on the listing is the price, and the piece is yours the moment you book. If you would rather ask for less, and the lender takes offers, you can send one. See Renting a piece.

Wear it. It arrives by courier or by parcel, or you collect it in person if the lender offers a handoff. Film a short video when it lands and again before it goes back. That record is what settles anything either of you needs to raise later. See Receiving your piece.

Send it back. Book the return and hand it over. The lender takes it from there: cleaning between rentals is hers, and you are never asked to clean a piece before returning it. See Returning a piece.

Two things worth knowing up front

Same-day courier in New York City. Shipped anywhere in the US. A courier is from $13.49 each way, quoted exactly at checkout, out and back priced as two legs. Shipping is priced by the carrier at checkout, for the speed you pick. A handoff is free. Once Jelly knows where you are, Shop shows you only the pieces that can reach you. See Delivery methods.

Everyone verifies, once. You check your ID once, with a government photo ID and a selfie, before you book, and before your first piece goes live if you lend. Do it when you sign up, or later; browsing, saving, Jelly boards and Mona never need it. You never see each other's full name or address. The one exception is a shipping label, which carries a first name, last initial and address for the carrier. See Your account.

Or lend yours. List the pieces you are not wearing and get paid 12 hours after they are delivered. See Lending from your closet.
